THIS PAGE LAST UPDATED on 19 September 2009 - yes the Conradies are still around, so
don't be shy if you have [or need] information about our clan !!!)These pages
contain the genealogy
and general history of the Conradie family in Southern Africa since
1685.
Please note that some of these pages are predominantly in Afrikaans,
the
home language of most South African Conradies.
If you need
help with
information in these web
pages,
you are most welcome to PLEASE!!! contact me directly via e-mail at: dieconradies@gmail.com
This web page is not only important to local South Africans, but also have been visited by Conradie diaspora - from e.g.: Canada, USA, the UK and New Zealand.
Should you be
a Conradie by birth, then I trust that you
will be able to share in the excitement of finding your name and your
direct
ancestors in the genealogical register. Currently the register contains
more than 6629 names. If you - or worse - your ancestors are not in
the
register, then I would like to encourage you to please submit the
correct
information
for inclusion. Maybe some 100 years from the present, other Conradie
descendants in
your branch of the family will be happy that you did do so! Possibly
you
know
someone in the family, who took the trouble to document the
genealogical
information for your clan of the Conradies. Please do not let such
information
go to waste, but make a copy of the information and mail to: Piet
Conradie,
P.O.Box 47, Sanlamhof, 7532, or email the information to me for
inclusion
into the master register. (It has
been under construction
for 79+ years already!) The updated genealogical register will be
uploaded
periodically to this web site. In this way everyone gets the benefit of
being able to view the latest version of the register. I also welcome
and
appreciate any other submissions about your clan (anecdotes, history,
scanned
pictures) which you may consider appropriate. Thanks for you kind help.

This is the
signature of the common ancestor of all South
African Conradies. Here he signed as "Conradÿ". the "ÿ"
is pronounced as in Conradi(e). Friederich came to the Cape in 1685.
Several family members have already sent in corrections and additions to the genealogy. Thanks for your trouble! Such information has been added to the master file which should appear on this web page with the next upload by about 1 September. Other submitters of possible information have indicated that they will need more time to do research.

What a suprise to see my family on the internet.
I realize that you appear to be geared up towards the Afrikaans side of
the family tree, but there are a vast number of English speaking
Conradie's
in South Africa too (I am on of them!).

It is great to have access to a Conradie web page
- thanks for all the hard work. I will check your birth register to
determine
whether my side of the family appears or not. I will spread the web
page
address around my family.
Martin Conradie, Natal.

Greeting from a Conradie who lives in Singapore!
My brother, Martin emailed me, and told me about your wonderful work
updating
the Conradie Geslagregister, and setting up the Website! Well
done,
and congratulations on a good job well done. I have lived here for 9
years,
and
have the 'Conradie Geslagregister' by H.N. Conradie
here with
me. I am married to a
Malaysian who is of Chinese parentage.
For
our children I feel their heritage as Conradie descendants is very
important.
So I am thrilled at what you are doing! In Asia it is
customary for
women to keep their maiden names, and so the name Conradie lives on in
Singapore in all my financial and business dealings here. I am the only
Conradie living in Singapore!, If you, or any other Conradie's pass
this
way on holiday, please feel free to contact me.
